Fellowship

We have a number of social activities that our members and friends find enjoyable. These include the Fellowship Supper Group, Fellowship Bridge, a Retreat. Usually there is a coffee after the Sunday services and there is a reception for new members so that they can meet the rest of the congregation.

Our Fellowship Supper Group meets on the third Monday of every month.  Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish for eight as well as table service for themselves.  In addition to good food and fellowship, those attending enjoy entertainment which in the past has included musical and travel programs and lectures by speakers from outside organizations.

Our Fellowship Bridge program brings members together in other members’ homes for pleasant social evenings. Our congregation is composed of people from many different areas of the nation. Activities like bridge give them an opportunity to get to know one another better. It is one of the ways in which we build community.

It is important to us that our new members feel welcome and have a sense of being a part of our faith community. In order to accomplish this we have an orientation meeting to familiarize them with the church and the denomination as well as an opportunity to get to know the others who will be joining with them. A reception is held for them on the morning they join. This gives the congregation an opportunity to welcome them.

The summer retreat is a highlight in the church year. It is held at the Blowing Rock Assembly Grounds near Blowing Rock, NC. It is a beautiful site with Grandfather Mountain visible from the dinning room. This experience has become one of spiritual growth and community building. There is plenty of free time built into the schedule for relaxing, shopping, hiking and many other possible activities. We occupy motel-style rooms located in the new South Wing of Corriher Lodge.
