CIRCLE OF FRIENDS
Circle of Friends is our small group ministry in which many of our members participate. Each circle of friends meets each month for two years. Activities are up to each group to decide; the focus, however, is being a part of a trusting, nurturing and caring group of church friends.
COMMUNITY COFFEE
Join us each Monday morning, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. for coffee, a sweet treat, and great conversation in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone is welcome to this time connection. Our pastor, Karla, usually hosts this time and leads us in an enjoyable conversation.
CRONE TALK
Crone Talk is an hour of discussion in the Parlor with women who are gracefully aging. This group is convened by Janet Slimak and Frances Yoder (call the office for contact information). Entrance is through the side door at the Fifth Avenue parking lot door.
LABYRINTH
Our beautiful labyrinth is located in the back part of the church, near the Memorial Garden and the Vegetable Garden. There is parking off of White Pine Drive. A brochure is available next to the labyrinth with suggestions on how to make the most of your experience at this sacred place. We invite you to walk the labyrinth as a way of connecting with peace and the Holy.
RANDOM ACTS OF FLOWERS
First Congregational Church partners with Random Acts of Flowers, a nonprofit organization that collects donated flowers and transforms these into beautiful bouquets, which are then delivered to persons in hospitals, nursing homes and long term care facilities. Linda Heaton coordinates Random Acts of Flowers, and her contact information is available through the church office.
MEDITATION
The Meditation Group meets each Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. for one hour of guided meditation. Various practices are offered by the facilitators
CHOIR
The FCCH Choir meets each Wednesday, 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. The Choir sings each Sunday as an important part of worship. All persons who are committed to our rehearsals and service opportunities are welcomed in the Choir. We sing a variety of literature, with an emphasis on songs of love, peace, hope, social justice and acceptance
PET MEMORIAL
The church has a beautiful pet memorial garden in which the ashes of our beloved pets can be placed in the ground. Lyn Stogner lovingly created and maintains this place of holy remembrance.
LGBTQIA+ MINISTRY
First Congregational Church has, for many years, been an "opening and affirming" congregation in which all persons, no matter their sexual identity or gender identity, are welcome and are a vital part of the leadership and fabric of our congregation each day. We are also proud sponsors of the Pride Festival and the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance, as well as hosting the monthly meeting of PFLAG. When we say "You are welcome here" we mean that you can bring your whole self, just as you are, and that your gifts are needed and welcome here.
GARDEN
Our garden produces vegetables and fruit for the hungry three seasons of the year. Food grown in our garden is given to organizations in our community for distribution to those in need. The Garden is staffed by volunteers from our church..
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
Members of the Prayer Shawl Ministry create beautiful shawls which are given to persons as a symbol of care and comfort.
VIDEO SERIES
At least twice each year, we offer a four to six week video series during the day and in the evening. These videos are usually focused on theological studies, and a discussion often follows the video presentation.
